OUAGADOUGOU - The Tuareg rebellion of the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad (MNLA) said Tuesday coordinate in northern Mali with French forces against Islamist terrorists on the run in recent weeks.

The other is a leader of the Movement for the uniqueness and jihad in West Africa (Mujao) Oumeïni Ould Baba Akhmed.

Arrest - occurred Saturday, according to the MNLA - was announced Sunday by security sources in the region, who did not say who had made the arrest, even if the eyes quickly turned to the MNLA.
The two men were arrested in the far north of Mali near the Algerian border, according to the Tuareg rebellion, which says they were taken and interrogated in the town of Kidal (1500 km northeast of Bamako) .

Former bastion of Ansar Dine, Kidal came under the control of the MNLA and the Islamic Movement of Azawad (MIA, Ansar Dine dissent asserting moderate), just before the arrival of French troops on the night of January 29 to 30.
Both groups claimed to support the arrival of French forces but refuse military presence in Mali and West Africa, including fear of abuses against Arab and Tuareg sometimes equated with armed Islamist groups.
Kidal is secured by some 1,800 Chadians, said Tuesday the French Ministry of Defence.
